Rumors about a major Windows redesign have been circulating for the past year. The update marks the first major change to Microsoft's operating system since Windows 10 launched in 2015. And Android apps will be integrated into Windows and installable from the Microsoft Store - though that feature won't be available right away. You'll find lots of new desktop tools, like widgets that can give you at-a-glance information, and easier virtual desktop creation. The Windows Start menu has moved from the bottom left of the screen to the middle, with app icons arranged in the center next to it. If you’re taking full-screen desktop screenshots for your job as a tech blogger, it’ll be visible.Windows 11 features a streamlined new design, with pastel colors, rounded corners, a new startup sound and overall a more Mac-like look. If you’re streaming games on Twitch, the watermark will be visible. So if you plug in a projector to give a presentation, you’ll see the watermark. It will appear in screenshots and screencasts, on all displays that are connected to your computer. ![]() This watermark is overlaid on top of everything on your display, including any full-screen applications you may be running like games. The most obvious sign that Windows 11 isn’t activated is the “Activate Windows” watermark that appears in the bottom-right corner of the screen. Just like using Windows 10 without a product key, truth be told, there isn’t a huge list of downsides to running Windows without activating it. What Happens If You Don’t Activate Windows 11? ![]() Copies of Windows downloaded from elsewhere may have been tampered with and could include malware, ransomware, remote access tools, and other nasties.
